Abstract
Th is paper argues that ‘collective memory’ and ‘memory discourses’ should be pulled more strongly towards the core of linguistic research. Selected examples from the political, mediatic and educational discourse are reviewed to ask about the function of some discourse-specifi c grammatical means through which the relation between the event, i.e. World War II, and the agent (the trigger of WWII) is manifested at the speech level.
