Abstract
The article examines major issues of contemporary Polish Army. After the collapse of Communist regime, Poland overcame the legacy of its communist past and was ready to face new challenges, like joining NATO. Poland established civilian control of the military and the professional army. Poland’s participation in the military missions abroad coordinated by the USA led to the modernization of the Polish Army. But the shift in the U.S. foreign policies caused serious concern about Poland’s national security.
