Abstract

Dziesiąty tom Opera Omnia ukazuje pięćdziesiąt lat teologicznej refleksji J. Ratzingera poświęconej problematyce eschatologii. Autor łączy gotowość dialogu z odwagą przeciwstawienia się dominującym opiniom w poszukiwaniu prawdy, a także precyzję naukowego wywodu z troską o prostych wiernych. Dotyka najgorętszych problemów wywołujących liczne spory i kontrowersje. Polemizuje z teorią zmartwychwstania w śmierci, wskazując na jej teologiczne i pastoralne konsekwencje, np. w kwestii modlitwy za zmarłych. Zachęca do właściwej interpretacji Pisma Świętego, pogłębienia rozumienia zasady rozwoju dogmatycznego, do bardziej wyważonego spojrzenia na wzajemną relację myśli biblijnej i greckiej, do rozwoju filozofii czasu. Krytycznie ocenia niektóre ujęcia teologii wyzwolenia. Przyznaje się do ewolucji własnych poglądów. W późniejszym okresie swojej twórczości nieco inaczej postrzega znaczenie myśli greckiej. Docenia fundamentalne znaczenie prawdy o nieśmiertelności ludzkiej duszy. Zmienia się jego ocena zagrożeń wiary i kierunek polemiki.

The tenth volume of Opera Omnia depicts the fifty years of theological reflection of J. Ratzinger devoted to the problem of eschatology. The author combines the willingness for dialogue with the courage to confront the dominant opinions in search for the truth, precision of scientific argumentation with the care for the simple believers. He touches upon the most burning and controversial problems. He polemicises with the theory of resurrection in death by showing its theological and pastoral consequences e.g. the question of the prayer for the dead. He encourages the appropriate interpretation of the Holy Scripture, a deeper understanding of the principle of development of dogma, a more balanced view on the mutual relations between the biblical and the Greek thought and the development of the philosophy of time. Ratzinger is critical towards some of the views of the liberation theology. He admits that his own views have evolved. During a later stage of his work he begins to perceive the meaning of the Greek thought differently. He expresses appreciation for the fundamental meaning of the truth about the immortality of the human soul. His judgment of the dangers faced by faith and the direction of polemic change.
