Kult świętych jako motywacja wyboru imienia w parafii Daleszyce w XVII–XIX wieku (na przykładzie imion kalendarzowych)

Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie udziału imion kalendarzowych w systemie imienniczym parafii Daleszyce (województwo świętokrzyskie) w latach 1602–1617, 1702–1717, 1802–1817 oraz porównanie stopnia popularności imion przyniesionych wśród chłopców i dziewczynek. W artykule została także podjęta próba stworzenia możliwie najbardziej obiektywnego narzędzia pozwalającego odpowiedzieć na pytanie, w jak dużym stopniu motywacja nadawania imion była uwarunkowana kultem świętych. Materiał badawczy został wyekscerpowany z łacińskich ksiąg metrykalnych rejestrujących urodzenia i chrzty. Analizie zostały poddane imiona nadawane chłopcom i dziewczynkom z miasta Daleszyce i kilkunastu okolicznych wiosek należących do parafii. Przeprowadzone badania pozwoliły stwierdzić, że imiona przyniesione stanowią aż 74% wszystkich zgromadzonych imion (przy czym zdecydowanie dominują one wśród chłopców – 82% w stosunku do 61% wśród dziewczynek). Zwyczaj nadawania chrzczonym dzieciom imion zgodnie z regułą kalendarzową był podstawowym motywem wyboru imienia chrzestnego we wszystkich analizowanych wiekach.
O elementach gwarowych w siedemnastowiecznych nazwiskach z parafii Daleszyce

This article contains an analysis of 17th-century proto-names from the area of the Daleszyce parish (Świętokrzyskie voivodship, Kielce poviat) for the presence of phonetic dialectal characteris cs. The research material was excerpted from the manuscripts of four parish registers (records of birth) written in Latin. The analysis showed that the examined anthroponymic material was a storage of various phone c characteris cs throughout the 17th c. The Daleszyce historical anthroponyms recorded typically Lesser Polish features (the shi from -ch to -k in the fi nal posi on), Masovian features (fl uctua ons in the ge : g’e, ke : k’e groups; hardening of l’), Masovian and Greater Polish features (fl uctua ons in the -ew-/-ow- groups), and general dialectal features (Masurian influences and the presence of prosthe c consonants). The analysed material contained also various manifestations of hypercorrection with respect to dialectal forms, such as e.g. the so-called szadzenie, removal of h- and j- in the ini al posi on heard as forms with prothesis, secondary nasalisa on of e in posi ons other than ones arising from the phone c assimila on to the neighbouring nasal consonants. This article might fill, to an extent, the gap in the anthroponymic research on the Kielce region in the 17th c.
Strategie referencjalne w dyskursie a kategoria empatii. Na przykładzie wybranych tekstów prasowych o europejskim kryzysie migracyjnym

The paper aims at demonstrating the referential strategies employed to identify refugees and immigrants in recent Polish media discourse. The author assumes a critical discourse analysis perspective, enriched by a cognitive linguistics framework (Hart 2014). The study follows the lines of previous descriptions of immigrant discourse and the linguistic representations of ‘the other’ formulated in various countries (e.g. Baker et al. 2008; Khosravinik 2009, 2010; Hart 2010). In 2015, because of the socalled European migrant crisis, this issue became particularly vital. The author’s focus is on empathy, understood as a specific viewing arrangement, i.e. along the lines set by Susumu Kuno (1987: 206). The study is based on a corpus compiled from articles published in 2015 in a major Polish weekly, Tygodnik Powszechny.
„Mama taty nazywa się Barbara, ponieważ urodziła się w Barbórkę” – religijne motywacje nadawania imion dzieciom czterech pokoleń Polaków (na przykładzie rodzin studentów i studentek Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego)

The subject matter of this paper is religious motivations for naming four generations of Poles born in the 20th and 21st centuries. The research material is statements of the University of Warsaw students who attended an online course on anthroponymy. I collected the statements on motivations for naming children in their families between 2018 and 2021. I analysed the material with reference to the following generations: course participants, their parents, grandparents, and children. The analysis leads to the conclusion that religious motivations determined the choice of names in all separated groups although it is undoubtedly weaker in the generation of students (born at the turn of the 21st century) than in the generation of their parents. Th e research on spontaneous (other than survey) statements on the subject permit also the conclusion that there are several subtypes among the religious naming motivations. Hence, the discussed group included calendar names, names given to honour the patrons of a given parish, names given to honour the patrons of the parents’ professions, and names associated with an important event in the family’s life, the very act of nomination, or the etymology revealing the religious embedment of names.
