The aim of this paper is to analyse the implementation of e-learning in
medical education, exemplified by classes in basic medical sciences, and to present
the results of their evaluation provided by medicine students (n=478) during the
academic year 2014/2015 (group 1) and 2015/2016 (group 2). During the two
years of teaching the subject of pathophysiology, they used an open-source elearning
portal as well as e-courses, being identical in terms of contents,
communication and organisation. The only differences concerned the format and
structure of audiovisual materials introduced after the classes were assessed by
group 1. The evaluation given by the students of the two groups was analysed in
terms of suitability of the educational materials, work using the e-learning portal
and the general way of conducting the classes. The results indicate that the
proposed implementation of blended learning (b-learning) in teaching future
physicians appeared to be a success and is worth continuing, which is also
expected by students themselves. In the authors' opinion, the presented results and
the process of e-learning will encourage other educational units to undertakesimilar innovative projects for education methods used at medical science or
health science courses.
