Abstract
The paper discusses the main elements of landscape structure according to the „matricespatches - corridors” model. Also, an attempt was made to identify ecological matrices, patches,corridors, flows and barriers within the commune of Rokietnica, located in the immediate vicinity of the Poznań agglomeration. On the basis of available maps: topographic maps (1:10 000 and 1:25 000), soil maps (1:10 000), a Prussian soil map (1:25000), and a photo-map (1:10 000) based on aerial photographs taken in 1997, 3 types of matrices, 19 types of patches and 7 types of corridors were identified. All of them were supplemented with detailed descriptions specifying their landscape and ecological features, as well as existing and potential hazards to their state, structure and functioning. Furthermore, opportunities for their management and measures conducive to their sustained functioning were discussed.
