Abstract
The subject of the article is the Charles Baudelaire’s critical thought on art. I describe main issues dealt with in poet’s works. I choose crucial quotations which constitute the coherent view exposed in the Baudelaire’s aesthetic theory. Firstly, I present the reasons of poet’s activity as an art critic. Secondly, I characterize the way in which Baudelaire performed his criticism. Part III addresses specifically Baudelaire’s aesthetic ideas. I describe his theory and present an analysis of his definition of beauty, imagination and flâneur. In conclusion, I provide a summary putting the subject in a broader context.
