The article presents a description of four research projects aimed at identifying the relationship between the variables of a subjective nature and engaging in excessive use of the Internet. The aim of the first project is to answer the question: Are there any relationships (and what is the nature of these relationships) between an excessive use of the Internet and the sense of loneliness and interpersonal relations? In the second project the analysis focused on answers to the question: Is there a relationship (and what is its specificity) between the level of emotional intelligence and excessive involvement in the Internet? The third project provides answers to the following research question: Is there a relationship (and what is its nature) between personality traits included in the Five-Factor Model of Personality by Paul Costa and Robert McCrae and the risk of addiction to the Internet? The fourth project answers the question: does the level of involvement in blogs modify the relationships between the crisis in the valuation and the quality of life? The study was carried out as a part of research topics in the Chair of Social Psychoprevention of Catholic University of Lublin by the students attending the introductory seminar of psycho-social pathology. The research team consisted of students: Anna Dubisz, Katarzyna Flis, Paulina Frączek, Bartosz Kubacki, Małgorzata Łygan, Damian Meksuła, Patrycja Wośko, Klaudia Zarucka. On one hand presented results show subjective correlates of excessive use of the Internet and define future directions of research, and on the other – allow to generate a series of research and application recommendations for behavioral addiction prevention.en
