Today's electric power distribution systems are complex large-scale systems changing in time and area. Physical phenomena occurring in a distribution system during transmission and distribution of electrical energy are caused by many different processes proceeding in the system and its environment. Quantitative description of the phenomena occurring in the system by analysis of all possible relationships between these phenomena and processes is, in practice, impossible. The principles describing the behavior of random phenomena may be determined by probabilistic and statistical analysis only. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the method of probabilistic analysis in radially operated power distribution systems.
