Abstract

In recent years, we have witnessed dynamic changes in the region of Silesia. Kato- wice is changing its image. We also have witnessed the collapse of one of the sym- bols of the city - the main train station, which aroused the same enthusiasm as dis- gusted. How do these changes affect the identity of the inhabitants? Are the new architectural designs are able to earn the rank of a symbol? The authors seek an- swers to these questions by combining the humanities and social sciences.
