O etycznych kanonach pracy nauczycieli akademickich i próbach ich kodyfikowania
Streszczenie
Author of the article refers to – increased in recent years – activities of academics in defining ethical canons declared as socially accepted in particular academic environments. From time to time, attempts at formulating more universal standards of university teachers’ work are made as well. First, nationwide initiatives, i.e., their development and final status, were described by Nowakowski. Attention was paid especially to the following documents: Good manners in science (Dobre obyczaje w nauce) from the 90s as well as contemporary Good research practice: Recommendations (Dobra praktyka badań naukowych. Rekomendacje) and Good manners in higher education institutions (Dobre praktyki w szkołach wyższych). Afterwards, proposals of particular academic environments were presented by the author, including the most publicized document, i.e., Academic code of values (Akademicki kodeks wartości) established in 2003 by the Senate of Jagiellonian University. The discussion between supporters and opponents of deontological codification regarding university teachers’ work was followed through in the last part of the article. Nowakowski concludes that a set of standards which refer to academics’ obligations is highly essential for younger scholars who just shape their academic identity.
