Abstract

The paper aims is to indicate the multi-aspects of the concept "cultural industries" on the basis of literature and examples from many cities in the world. In the paper the authors attempt to determine what "cultural industries" are emphasize thier role in the socio-economic development of contemporary cities. The conducted research has demonstrated that cultural industries contribute to the scoio-econbomic revival of cities and towns, change their image, create a special creative milieu and generate new jobs. They also organize public and private space in cities and towns and increase the value of urban environments.
