Abstract
Sports events currently fulfill two roles – joining the features of a sports product and the products of tourism, especially with regard to globalization and the commercialization of professionally organized and promoted sporting events. This has significant impact on the development of cities and towns, regions and even countries. As an example, the Tour de France cycling race is presented in this article.
