Abstract

The article presents and discusses the main assumptions and courses of action contained in the innovation strategy for Pomorskie voivodeship with respect to building the competitive advantage The considerations are preceded by analyses concerning the interpretation and meaning of the following concepts in contemporary economy (with special emphasis on their regional context): competitiveness, competitive advantage and innovation, as well as the position and role of regional innovation strategies, which constitute one of the crucial instruments of innovation creation, in the increased use and development of R&D potential and in improving the voivodeship's competitiveness.
