C.S. Lewis is known as Christian apologist and writer but his attitude toward women and feminism was not considered in Polish studies. Gender figures in his work may be considered as subordinated to patriarchal hierarchy and discourse of power. It is argued that his fiction has re-vealed stereotypical masculinity and femininity. One of This hideous strength characters, Jane Studock, must be „reeducated” because of her „modernity” and contraceptive use. According to patriarchal hierarchy she has to find her “obedience” as a wife. Gay/lesbian and feminist figures are satirized. Neil Gaiman gives creative reinterpretation of „problem of Susan”, heroine of The Chronicles of Narnia, who does not ascend to heaven with the other children because a girl achieving sexual maturity was an impossible phenomenon in Narnia’s imaginative world. The article gives also a glimpse into Lewis’ relationship with women: a difficult relationship with Mrs. Moore (mother or lover?) and his wife, Joy Davidman Gresham.en
