Abstract

Whilst trying to describe and understand Chinese culture, Różewicz truly struggles to capture its character and insights. It all seems very dissimilar and distant to him. We observe Różewicz’s inability to penetrate this culture, to re-discover this foreign world for himself. His attempts to describe China failed and distant or foreignness of subject seems to be complicated structure composed of stereotypes, propaganda, self-censorship and alienation.
