Wybrane przykłady lekarzy pracujących w Bośni i Hercegowinie na przełomie XIX i XX w.
Abstract
Po kongresie berlińskim (1878) Bośnia i Hercegowina
znalazła się w austro-węgierskiej strefie wpływów. Wówczas,
chcąc zmodernizować tę byłą turecką prowincję,
nowe władze zachęcały adeptów szkół medycznych,
głównie z Pragi i Krakowa, do podjęcia kariery medycznej
After the Congress of Berlin (1878), Bosnia and Herzegovina
was in the Austro-Hungarian sphere of influence.
Then, the new government in order to modernize
the former Turkish province, encouraged medical
school students, mainly from Prague and Cracow to take
a medical career in the Balkans. Based on profiles of
some Polish doctors, the genesis of this phenomenon, as
well as their daily work in a country where a significant
percentage of the population, was of Muslim origin and
culturally different, is presented.
