Among the inhabitants of Western Pomerania region there is noticed a problem of low identification and lack of connection with the place of birth. Although their regional identity is barely formed. The reason for this situation is the history of the region – such as the Western Pomerania changing ethnic structure, did not take place anywhere in modern Europe. However, in recent years, it can be observed an increase in interest in the past of the city and the region. If you are going to work long term in order to shaping a regional awareness you need to combine the efforts of many institutions.
System of education serves a significant role in shaping regional awareness of children and youth. Future teachers and sightseeing animators need to be prepared to that role. It was presumed that knowledge about homeland’s touring attractions is an important indicator of regional identity. Is necessary the presence of leaders with knowledge of the values of the region and sightseeing sentient relationship with his small homeland. Therefore, authors postulate a particular emphasis on the development of perception the geo-tourism in students study program. To sum up, it is postulated to lay a stress on incorporating development of geographic – touristic areas perception in curricula.
