Abstract
The article explains the temporary concept of maritime economy, and defines the areas of maritime economy. The status of the maritime economy in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship and socio-economic determinants of its further development are described. Later in the author gives the strategic objectives for the maritime industry to 2015 and explains the role of clusters in the implementation of these objectives. Article ends with conclusions relating to the factors affecting the efficiency of the West Pomeranian marine clusters.
