dc.description | The aim of the article is to present data and conclusions from several experiments on narrative understanding of other persons, with special relevance to the quality of social relationship. The data indicate that understanding other person within a personal story frame facilitates individualization of the person, and serves as a buffer against stereotypization. Within a narrative frame, motives and emotions of a person became more important. Personal history facilitates engagement in the problems of a person and facilitates empathetic communication. Moreover, narratives increase readiness to help a person in need. This readiness was observed at the level of a decision to help and at the level of the ąuality of helping efforts: they were more productive. It seems that narrative understanding of other persons enhances the quality of social bonds and - as a conseąuence - the quality of life. | en |
| pl |
