Czasoprzestrzeń w życiu zwierząt i człowieka

Abstract

Each animal or man lives in the three-dimensional environment which is lasting and changing (also periodically) in time. According to Jacob von Uexküll, an individual is able to establish appropriate relations with its surrounding. Their richness and extent depends on species-specific diversity and acuity of sensory mechanisms, and manifoldness of acting reperoire on one hand, and mobility of the indivisual, on the other. Environmental elements from which the individual receives the stimuli, and on which it is acting – von Uexküll named the „Umwelt” (ambient world) of the individual. The subjective receiver of the „Merkwelt” (world of impressions) and the origin of the „Wirkwelt” (action world) constitute important element of its “Innenwelt” (inner world), which is also a domain of other experiences. A good illustration of coupling space and time in the life of individual is given by the „Raum-Zeit-System” (space-and-time system) introduced by Heini Hediger. It is a set of points in the space, on which an individual performes its particular life activities in specified periods or moments of time.
