Abstract

Evaluation of pharmacological properties of sources and preparations used as anti-plague drugs in D. Alexii pedemontani De secretis libri septem (1563 r.) in Marcin Siennik edition (1568 r.) „Secrets of Alexis of Piedmont” was a sixteenth century handbook of prescriptions for various forms of drugs, methods of dyeing, glues, and much more. In 1568 Marcin Siennik edit polish version of this book, and named it : Herbary, what is local, outside and overseas plants circumscription”. Exept for „Secrets…” in his book he included description of various medicinal and economic plants, methods of treatment, and drugs preparing. In my article i focused on anti-pestilence formulas for drugs included in this handbook. I differentiate 31 prescriptions for various forms of drugs for example: unguents, medicinal vines, medicinal spirits, plasters, medicianal oils. Considering methods of preparation, sources, and modern studies recipes no. 540 N, and 540 M could stop spreading of plague.
